I didn\u2019t know until recently and unexpectedly it made me cry.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know how many times I played his bass lines, somewhere in the thousands. I discovered Slave\u2019s music in the early 2000s and just thought that this band was something I wanted to be part of. So amazingly hot and strong, innovative and crazy, their own sound\u2026 They introduced me to 80s boogie and Slave was the different tree hiding an immense forest of jewels.<\/p>\n<p>The sad part is again with black music artists, this man died awfully early on (50 something?). Beaten up in a crack house or some shit.<\/p>\n<p>I saw them live last year for the very first time though Mark wasn\u2019t here (there are like three versions of Slave touring). I hoped for it.<\/p>\n<p>Gil and Mark shared the same habit of doing cocaine, as Charlie Sheen or Lindsay Lohan and fucking thousands of artists. The only difference is that they printed deep grooves in music, shifted paradigms, marked eras and died considered as ghosts and drug addicts while these two white folks are supported in their behavior and will probably get specials on TV when they\u2019ll pass away. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s shit like this.
