(Following <em>ProPublica<\/em>\u2019s and <strong><em>Slate<\/em><\/strong>\u2019s reports, Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.fb.com\/news\/2017\/09\/updates-to-our-ad-targeting\/\">disabled these targeting options<\/a>.) To the extent there\u2019s a problem, then, it\u2019s not a case of machine intelligence run amok but rather a lack of <em>any<\/em> intelligence in the process, machine or otherwise. In short, Facebook\u2019s ad tool is dumb.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The entire ad business is dumb, always has been. That\u2019s also why we don\u2019t like ads. Find another fucking business model. Lower your filthy profit expectations and have a good life.
