{"id":4709,"date":"2023-10-18T05:04:24","date_gmt":"2023-10-18T05:04:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/har0ld.com\/playground\/?p=4709"},"modified":"2023-10-18T05:04:24","modified_gmt":"2023-10-18T05:04:24","slug":"bandcamp-falling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/har0ld.com\/playground\/2023\/10\/bandcamp-falling\/","title":{"rendered":"Bandcamp falling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A bit sad, disturbing and violent.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I used Bandcamp for my <a href=\"http:\/\/har0ld.bandcamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">own music<\/a> and to buy some.<\/li>\n<li>One of the best <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/MPefdADUSrc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trailer ever made<\/a>, used a song that was <a href=\"https:\/\/kompakt.bandcamp.com\/album\/without-you\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">only available on Bandcamp at the time<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve been listening to <a href=\"https:\/\/chitchatrecords.bandcamp.com\/album\/mirror-mirror\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brian Ellis<\/a> in my car a lot. Dope music.<\/li>\n<li>So much great music out there on that platform. <a href=\"https:\/\/mofunkrecords.bandcamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MOFUNK<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s about to be over. Bandcamp is in the process of being sold. Half of their employees <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/money\/careersandeducation\/tech-layoffs-oakland-s-bandcamp-slashes-nearly-half-its-staff-after-epic-sale\/ar-AA1ijjaD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have been laid off<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bandcamp has been profitable for years. I <a href=\"http:\/\/har0ld.com\/playground\/2022\/03\/epic-x-bandcamp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hoped<\/a> that Epic buying them would keep them away from hard times, and could actually be a nice synergy. Goddamn.<\/p>\n<p>Fortnite was making <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/insertcoin\/2018\/04\/18\/fortnite-is-earning-1m-a-day-on-mobile-players-are-spending-more-time-with-it-than-tinder\/?sh=523ca242d837\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$1M a day<\/a> on one single platform in 2018, and so that\u2019s why Epic didn\u2019t have any money left in 2023 to keep an already profitable business under its wing.<\/p>\n<p>FOH<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A bit sad, disturbing and violent.
