From 1976’s Attack on Precinct 13, here’s a Hills Bros can of coffee.
That is the coffee I’ve been drinking for 10+ years. The brand started in 1878 (just learned this, I’m fucking speechless). My local store suddenly stopped carrying it. I tried a few others. Disgusting.
So I went online and hillsbros.com showed up before Amazon! I bought a year’s worth of supply for way cheaper than anywhere else.
Online commerce is not that young but what has been changing lately is that you can buy directly, flawlessly, from more and more folks. I did the same with Nike shoes. Vans pants. Books. Skateboards.
They’re all using the same storefront. One web page with the order and info, done. The buyer gets the best price possible (no middlemen at all), the seller gets the best margin possible (no middlemen at all). And if the seller is close by, that’s basically next-day delivery.
Quick, easy, secure, effective, sustainable. Thanks to the latest e-commerce tech, selling products has never been better.
It’s just that we don’t need much these days. I don’t know if thrift stores are much online, but they should.
